In the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were on the road to recovery after a disastrous season last year. After making significant gains at the IPL 2021 auction, Dhoni’s CSK side bounced back quite remarkably in the IPL 2021. The Dhoni-led side had secured the second position and the Yellow Brigade had set their sights on the top spot before the 14th edition of domestic cricket’s biggest extravaganza was brought to a standstill.

The 2021 edition of the IPL was suspended indefinitely after multiple COVID-19 cases were reported in its bio-bubble amid the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. Days after the postponement of the IPL 2021, the official social media handle of the Chennai Super Kings franchise shared an emotional video for the ardent fans and followers of the Yellow Brigade.

Taking to Twitter on Monday, the Twitter handle of CSK shared an almost five-minute-long video to reflect on CSK’s short yet memorable journey in the IPL 2021. The video starts with the arrival of legendary skipper Dhoni at Chennai. Besides Thala Dhoni, the likes of Suresh Raina, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ambati Rayudu, Deepak Chahar, Ravindra Jadeja, and Sam Curran also received a special mention. “A re-ride of the #Summerof2021! Thirumbi Varuvom,” CSK captioned the video. The Dhoni-led franchise also vowed to be back “to finish what they had started”.

Regarded as one of the most successful teams in the history of IPL, Dhoni-led CSK had a forgetful season in the cash-rich league last year. The three-time champions recorded their worst-ever finish since the tournament’s inception in 2008.
