NCB busts hydroponic cannabis cultivation in Mumbai, 2 arrested

Following the leads in connection with the Sushant Singh Rajput’s case, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) busted a cannabis cultivation facility in Mumbai’s Dombivali.

Following leads in the Sushant Singh Rajput drug case, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in a major operation has busted a residence, where curated cannabis, grown through hydroponic technique, was being manufactured in bulk.

On April 12, the NCB had arrested two persons in connection with the Sushant Singh Rajput drug case where drug lord Sahil Shah alias Flacko is wanted and suspected to be operating from Dubai.

The accused, identified as Ganesh Shere and Sidhant Amin, supplied hydroponic buds and worked for Flacko. During interrogation, they revealed name of suppliers who ran a plant in Dombivali.

Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede and his team raided the two-bedroom flat in Palava city of Dombivali on intervening night of April 15 and April 16.

The two accused -Javed Jahangir Sheikh and Arshad Khatri- involved were cultivating cannabis through Hydroponic techniques in the flat. Arshad is an expert in Hydroponic cultivation and Javed used to manage distribution of Harvest.

From the site, NCB Mumbai recovered cultivation setup, PH regulators, plant nutrients, clay pebbles, water pumps, air circulation systems, CO2 gas cylinders, photosynthesis lighting systems etc.

NCB sources said that the accused were procuring seeds from Amsterdam and Netherlands through Dark web. The yield was sold to medium size peddlers of Mumbai and Pune at the rate of Rs 2,500 per gram.

The sale purchase was done in cash and cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoins. The domestic supply orders and contact with retail customers was being done through social media apps like Snapchat and WhatsApp.

A total of 1 kilogram of hydroponic cannabis have been seized worth around Rs 25 lacs.

The term hydroponic weed refers to Cannabis grown without soil. The hydroponic technique helps in cultivating cannabis of required length and yield at a faster rate.

NCB Mumbai is further investigating the entire network in connection with the wanted drug lord Sahil Shah alias Flacko.
