MARKET LIVE: Sensex extends fall, down 250 points; metals, RIL drag – Business Standard

LIVE market updates: The benchmark indices traded nearly half a per cent lower in Wednesday’s volatile late morning deals, amid weakness in metals stocks and heavyweight Reliance Industries.

The S&P BSE traded 250 points down at 52,520 levels and the broader index fell below the 15,800-mark. PowerGrid, down 2 per cent, was the top lasggard, followed by Reliance Industries, and Maruti Suzuki (both down 1%).

All the Nifty sectoral indices, barring Nifty FMCG, were in the red, with Nifty Metal index, down 1.76 per cent, bleeding the most.

In the broader markets, the S&P BSE MidCap index slipped 0.2 per cent while the SmallCap index ticked up 0.2 per cent.

Results today

A total of 32 companies, including RITES, CESC, Welspun Enterprises, Commercial Syn Bags, DIC India, and Kakatiya Cement Sugar are set to release their quarterly earnings today.
