IPL 2021 Phase 2: BCCI gears up to host IPL 2021 in UAE ahead of T20 World Cup-The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is preparing to host the IPL 2021 Phase 2 in UAE ahead of the T20 World Cup. The governing body has set up a temporary office in Dubai with at least one IPL official, as per report from Cricbuzz. In the next 48 hours, a joint delegation of the BCCI led by secretary Jay Shah will visit Dubai and coordinate with the UAE government, especially with the Abu Dhabi government which has far more strict COVID-19 protocols. The dates and venues of the IPL 2021 and ICC T20 World Cup are likely to be announced after the end of this visit.

Though the BCCI has not declared the schedule of IPL 2021 Phase 2, the tournament is likely to start from September 17 and the Final will be on October 10, as per a report from insidesport.co

As BCCI looks to start IPL 2021 remaining games from Sep 17th, they wanted CPL 2021 to be advanced by 7-10 days so that all Caribbean and other cricketers stay available for IPL Phase 2.

Meanwhile, Caribbean Premier League (CPL), and Cricket West Indies (CWI), have changed the dates of this year’s CPL 2021 tournament after discussions with the BCCI.

The CPL will now start on August 26 and will conclude on September 15.

IPL franchises are also confident that the BCCI will engage in positive discussions with all the foreign boards and make players available for the remaining games.

BCCI had to move 31 matches of IPL 2021 to the UAE after the tournament was suspended midway through the season due COVID-19 outbreak.

The BCCI’s Vice President Rajeev Shukla had said that the board plans to host the remaining IPL 2021 in UAE between September 19 to October 15. However, the dates and schedule for IPL 2021 Phase 2 have not been announced officially yet.

Furthermore, the other headache the board has is the foreign players’ availability. During the September-October window, England, Bangladesh and New Zealand will be busy playing bilateral series and warm-up matches for the ICC T20 World Cup and thus players’ availability will be a concern.
